Curriculum
Grades 1 - 8
The curriculum and course of study at Sarasota Lutheran School comply with the standards of the Florida Department of Education, and with the standards set by the Board of Parish Education, Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
The areas of learning are:
RELIGON: A multimedia approach including Worship, Bible Study, Catechism, Church History, application of Christian Principles
LANGUAGE ARTS: Reading with Phonics, English, Spelling, Literature, Handwriting, Creative Writing, Grammar
MATHEMATICS: Basic operations, problem solving, reasoning, critical thinking, strategies, use of manipulatives, Algebra.
SCIENCE: Hands on Physical, Earth and Life Science, Health and Technology.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Geography and History, Citizenship, Current Events.
ARTS: Music experience and appreciation; Art History, Appreciation and multimedia application; Drama
COMPUTER EDUCATION: Areas of basic curriculum, enrichment and remediation, keyboard skills and word-processing. Internet access is provided for the upper elementary and middle school.
DISCIPLINE WITH PURPOSE: A developmental approach to teaching self-control and life management skills.
ANTI-BULLYING CURRICLUM: Teaching respect for self and others.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Spanish, conversational and written.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Physical fitness program, Intramural sports, track and field, and skill-building activities.
